Watch the video and answer the questions:

1. What role do families play in contemporary societies?

2. Are they doing better in exercising this role nowadays?

3. Are families here to stay or are they going to change in the near future?

4. Are families in decline? Why?

5. Do children consider parents to be old-fashioned?

6. Do parents have less time in taking care of their kids?

7. What family system can meet the demands of people?

8. In what way families are related to economy, politics and culture?

9. What is the essence of changes in families?

10. How these changes reflect the shifts taking place in society overall?

VI. Speaking:

A. In pairs ask each other questions, and complete the table. Report your findings to your classmates.

B. Read the seven predictions again. In pairs answer the three questions for each of the seven predictions.

1. Is this already happening in your country?

2. Do you think it will happen in the future?

3. Do you think it will be a good thing or a bad thing? Why?

D. Make a list of things in the future that you intend to do, you will have done by a certain time or you will be doing at some point. Discuss your list with a partner.
