The object of study: minor suspect, accused and a number of procedural steps necessary to perform, at different stages of criminal proceedings by the authorized bodies or officials, juvenile.

Objective: to investigate the features of the excitation of the investigation and trial of criminal cases against juveniles in terms of the criminal procedural legislation of the Republic of Belarus.

Methods: determination of the field and the research subject; collection of primary information; processing and selection of the necessary regulations, the special legal and scientific literature; systematization of selected sources; chronological, comparative, analytical and logical analysis of information; compilation and presentation of the material studied.

The study of the subject found that juvenile suspect is a person who has committed a crime before the age of eighteen years; the legislator has established a special procedure for proceedings in respect of this category of persons; person to open a criminal case against a minor is required to carefully consider the materials of the case, to establish the circumstances and evidence essential to the case, to take a decision to initiate or refuse to initiate criminal proceedings; when a preliminary investigation is important to establish the exact age of a minor, the causes and conditions of life and education, mental attitude to their actions and the ability to control them, the involvement or non-involvement in the crime, adult adult instigator; the interrogation of a juvenile suspect (accused) the mandatory presence of a teacher or psychologist and the defense; at the trial stage, with the specifications of a minor as a person, and in criminal cases in this category would be appropriate education ships special competence or involvement of judges who have been trained to handle criminal cases involving crimes committed by minors.
