At a supermarket

Susan came to a supermarket. She needed to buy some things. She chose some items after looking around. Susan studied the price tags on her purchases, counted the total and put the goods into a basket. She prepared the necessary amount of money and came up to the the cashier's. Saying "hello" to the cashier, she put the basket on the cash desk.

The cashier rang up the total for Susan. It was larger than she had expected. In embarrassment Susan asked the cashier why the total was larger than it could have been expected from the price tags. The cashier explained to her that it was because of sales taxes. So Susan paid, asked the salesclerk to put her buys in a plastic bag and left the place.
