HOW TO ACCEPT AN OSCAR

Some lexical units:

do’s and don’ts (ph.n) – norms or rules of behavior;

glad rags (n, pl) – clothes for a special occasion; smart or showy clothes;

impromptu (adj) – done without being planned or rehearsed;

supporting actor (adj) – the role of secondary importance to the leading roles in a play or film;

punch line (n) – the final phrase or sentence of a joke or story, providing the humour or some other crucial element;

indigenous (adj)– originating or occurring naturally in a particular place; native;

garb (n) – clothing, especially of a distinctive or special kind;

gag (n) – a joke or an amusing story, especially one forming part of a comedian’s act or in a film.
