My University

I’d like to tell you about my University and my studies.

I am very happy that I study here. It is Neftekamsk branch of Bashkir State University. It is very young as it was founded in 2000. About 2000 students are currently enrolled there. The majority are full-time students, like me, and the rest are correspondence students.

There are two faculties at my University, they are the faculty of economics and mathematics and the humanitarian faculty. The graduates of the humanitarian faculty get the following specialities: philologist, lawer, historian. The faculty of economics and mathematics prepares the specialists in finance and credit, programming and mathematics.

The course of study at my University lasts five years. The academic year is divided into two terms, each term (semester) ends with the winter and spring exams sessions, when the students must take and pass credit test and examinations on the subjects studied during the term. Our curriculum involves English classes as well. The attendance of lectures and seminars is obligatory.

Our University has two buildings. There are many large halls there so that students of 3-4 groups together can fit in there. And that is more than 100 people. Sometimes it is very noisy there when students chat during the lecture. There are six computer laboratories, two reading rooms at my University. Besides we have two other buildings for a library, a computer centre and a gym.

There is a nice canteen at the University. The food there is tasty and very affordable.

Unfortunately there is no special hostel building. Students from other cities and villages live in hostels belonging to other educational institutions. Some of the student rent flats.

Among many subjects we study foreign languages. German and English are taught to the students of all the faculties.
