Science is an effort to understand the world - we live in, through observations, experiments, hypothesis, etc.
And Scientists? Scientist must be those who are involved in the activities of science to explore new things, ideas, phenomena, by questioning the facts, beliefs, observed phenomena, in rather unconventional manner so that the accuracy and precision of our knowledge existing in any discipline can be enhanced or created.
Many people without the previous knowledge or training have already shown to the world that they are one of the most powerful reserves of science through their outstanding works and not to be surprised people like Faraday.

To gain the proper knowledge in any field is much essential so that the efficiency of our work can be increased and for this one has to pass to the process of education which includes training as well
but it is not the fact that people with good questions and the passion to get a reply without formal training cannot become a scientist. In fact what I believe is how much trained one is but he should always be watchful, curious, laborious and passionate regarding the subject he/she studies because one has to go much beyond his/her training in the course of the study. So if you think you have qualities of a good scientist go ahead, might be you will be one of the Nobel Prize winners of future. But a good training is always helpful.

The land of America has produced many great inventors and scientists. The period between 19th and 20th century was that of speedy growth for scientific development. However, the foundation for this development was laid prior to this period. The great scientists from America worked in various fields of science to make path-breaking discoveries and inventions. Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Alva Edison, George Washington Carver, Barbara McClintock and many others brought glory to America by making valuable contributions in this field.
