VIII. Read and speak about the different genres of films and their influence on the spectators.

There are a lot of different kinds of films: feature films, horror films, thrillers, popular science films, mystery films, documentaries, animated cartoons. Besides, films may be colour or black and white, full-length or short, sound or silent, dubbed in mother tongue.

Some people prefer feature films, others prefer amusing comedies. The life is rather difficult nowadays, and many of us want to relax or laugh. But at same time we want to watch a true – to – life film which describes the life of ordinary people, their feelings and problems. Such films move us deeply, they arouse the feeling of sympathy or hatred for the heroes. As a rule such films leave a deep and lasting impression upon a person. Educational films are useful mainly for school children and students. But animated cartoons are popular both with children and adults.

Cinema plays an important role in the life of any Society.

IX. Write a letter to your friend about the film you saw last, about the films you like to see.
