introduction The academic book «ESP: Technologies and design of textiles» consists of separate modules united by the certain professional topics, which, in their turn, are divided into independent completed lessons (Units), the amount of which is calculated in accordance with the curriculum of time budgets for independent and class work of the students. Each Unit is divided into separate blocks, which provide the educational-cognitive activity under the guidance of the teacher in class and self-study training materials, as well as the development of all kinds of speech activity and formation of linguistic competence of students. The first block of the lesson involves the training of students under the guidance of a teacher in class, having in mind that the development of the basic training material is happening under the supervision of a teacher. The following blocks constructed in a such way that the student could apply the received knowledges and skills or independently acquire them through a system of defined tasks and drawing upon the recommendations contained in the Appendix to perform certain tasks. Tasks for independent work provide the development of basic educational skills, such as: text analysis, annotation and rendering of the text, the work with the dictionary and additional sources for searching and presentation of the professional or/and educational information. Ø «Reading and writing skills», which implies an independent work of students with a terminological vocabulary within the learnt subjects, work with the text (different types of reading, the selection of the main ideas and the basic concept of the text, the division of the text into the content-completed part, definition of the main idea of each part and the brief wording of the main idea of this part, drawing up of various types of plans for the text, annotation and rendering of the text, etc. Ø «Communicative skills», in which students get acquainted with situational dialogues on vocational and social issues, which arise in real-life situations and the potential for application in the future in employment, the discussion of specific conditions of enterprise functioning and direct labour activity in the workplace. Ø «Project Work» in the framework of the implementation in the educational process method of the projects provides the students to complete the productive creative tasks requiring maximum of cognitive independence; however, do not provide the absolute autonomy of the student, because it can be performed with the required level of educational assistance of the teachers at different stages of the preparation of the project work and didactic aid means depending on the level of cognitive independence of the student. Ø «Revision. Self-check» is intended to upgrade and systematize the knowledge of students before performing the final modul test, the student has the opportunity to work independently, check their work using the keys, and to calculate the points, showing a self-appraisal. The student has the opportunity to assess the shortcomings in the performance of their work and gaps in their knowledge and skills and, turning to the main material of the training, become better prepared. Ø «Assess your progress» is aimed at the development of reflexive skills of students. The students give the self-evaluation of their knowledges and skills obtained during the processing of module while comparing and analyzing the self-esteem on estimates of the teacher. Ø «Additional Section» consists of several parts: hints for independent work with information («How to work with the texts for listening», «How to prepare a presentation», etc.); «Useful Phrases,» which will be useful in the preparation of situational dialogues and presentation of own products produced during the independent educational-cognitive activity; the keys to «Revision. Self-check»; texts for listening; additional texts for home reading, a Glossary and English-Ukrainian dictionary.
