The equipment of a rescue raft includes

· two oars,

· a hand pump,

· a mooring line

· and the drogue to stabilize the position of the raft.

In order to throw out the seawater inside the raft, there are two scoops. A soft cylinder is to store rain or freshened water. In addition there is

· a survival kit of some food,

· a hunting gun,

· a medical kit,

· a flashlight,

· a compass,

· a transceiver,

· fishing tackles,

· a saw-knife

· and other necessary things.

No doubt each rescue raft is under the command of a specially trained crew member who is responsible for the passenger’s safety.

Speaking about the evacuation of the passengers I’d like to say that every time before the aircraft takes off, one of the cabin attendants reads the information about the location of doors and emergency exits for evacuation, use of the life-vest and oxygen mask in case of emergency while others show passengers how to use this equipment. Besides that every passenger can find and read his individual “Safety Instruction Card” in the seatback pocket in front of them. What concerns the procedure for opening “Emergency Exit” it is shown there. Normally the crew ought to open the exits. The passengers in their turn must be informed about the order of leaving the aircraft in case of emergency and must leave their seats only on the order of the Commanding Officer. The cabin crew must select able-bodied passengers who should do the following:

1. to assist in removing and operating survival equipment;

2. to open emergency exits upon the cabin crew order;

3. to assist in holding escape slides;

4. to assist children, disabled or injured passengers;

To assist passengers in jumping down.

In accordance with safety regulations evacuation should last not more than 90 seconds and evacuated passengers must run away 100 meters not less from the damaged aircraft. Moreover all commands /instructions of flight attendants must be extremely loud, exact, concise and clear.
