Handwritten notes by Christopher Columbus on a Latin edition of the book of Marco Polo
In the year 1324 , already a sick man , Polo wrote his testament , wherein the gold paytsza ( credential tag ) from the Tatar khan (he got it from his uncle Maffeo , who in turn bequeathed it to Mark in 1310 ). Marco Polo had died , probably in 1324 in Venice , being rich with local merchants , for which he was nicknamed " Millionaire » (Masser Millioni), and was buried in the church of San Lorenzo (San Lorenzo di Venezia). In 1596 his house , where, according to legend, kept things brought him from the Chinese campaign, burned. The church in which he was buried in the XIX century was demolished .
