News Sources
Especially relevant are newspaper indexes, newspaper databases, newspaper and magazine websites, news wire services, and news networks online.
Biographical Material
As a speaker you'll often need information about particular individuals. For example, you may want to look up authors of books or articles to find out something about their education and training or their other writings. Or you may wish to discover if there have been any critical evaluations of their work in, say, book reviews or articles about them or their writings. Knowing something about your sources enables you to more effectively evaluate their competence, present their credibility to the audience, and answer audience questions about your sources.
Evaluating Research
In evaluating research (1) distinguish between primary and secondary sources, (2) investigate reliability, and (3) check to make sure that your research is current, fair, and sufficient.
