Registers, their significance

The economic operations are decorated with relevant documents to obtain the generalized information about the existence and change of the enterprise property. The economic processes and financial results of the activity are subject of the grouping and reflection in a certain order in the accounting registers.

Registers are carriers of information in a special format and structure (paper, machinery). They are intended for registration, grouping and generalization of economic operations decorated with the relevant primary documents.

The information contained in registers is used for operational management, economic analysis of economic activities of units and enterprises in general, and also for preparation of reporting. That’s why timely and right reflection of economic operations in accounting registers is one of the necessary conditions of quality and timeliness of accounting.

The appearance of accounting registers are divided into books, cards, separate sheets. In the accounting books the separate sheets are firmly intertwined. The pages of the book prior to the records always are numbered. On the back of the last page the total number of pages in the book is indicated with the signature of the chief accountant. In some books the pages are not only numbered, and are laced with string and sealed with the wax or mouldings seal. The name of the enterprise or organization and the name of the book, and also the year which it is opened are specified on the cover of the book.

There are a certain number of pages in the book for each separate account depending on the intended amount of records. To find a certain account easier the book has the content in which the numbers of pages are indicated.

The chief accountant determines the order of conducting the accounting registers by the employees of the accountancy. It establishes the duties of each employee and the responsibility for their implementation.
