CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT
1.When an employee starts work for an organization (the employer), the terms and conditions of employment are negotiated and set down in a written contract. This contract helps employer and employee understand what each expects from the other in terms of pay, hours, holidays, pension schemes and disciplinaryprocedures. If either party breaks the contract, the case can be decided by a court or specialised tribunal. Contracts of Employment may be renegotiated at intervals.
2. The written statement must contain certain employment details: the names of the employer and employee; the date when the employment began; the scale of remuneration, or the method of calculating remuneration (including, for example, any terms on piece-rates, of overtime pay); the intervals at which remuneration is paid, weekly or monthly; any terms and conditions relating to hours of work (including normal working hours), holidays, and holiday pay, incapacity for work due to sickness or injury, the title of the job.
