B- Rectangular components of a velocity

This velocity can be resolved into two components that are at right angles to each other. If the velocity V makes an angle Өwith the x axis, its component Vx in the direction of the x axis is

OA = Vx = V cos Ө

and its component in the direction of the у axis is

OC = Vy = V sin Ө [2, С. 52 - 53].
