Why are cabin attendants necessary on board the plane?

In the first place cabin attendants are necessary on board the plane for safety reasons in case of an emergency. So / Therefore / That is why / Hence they have to ask all passengers to fasten their seat-belts and not to smoke anywhere on aircraft duringthe whole flight. Besides that CAs demonstrate or show how to use oxygen masks in event of decompression, life-vests or life-jackets in case of ditching and the location of emergency exits.

To create friendly, respectful and comfortable atmosphere on board the aircraft during the flight CAs do a lot of work. For example, they:

· read the announcements or information in two languages – Russian and English;

· serve passengers with refreshments, beverages and meals;

· administer the first aid to sick passengers;

· help mothers with their babies or children;

· and answer a lot of passengers’ questions about the flight.

In event of an unruly passenger on board the plane, flight attendants first of all should try to calm down such apassenger and if he refuses to fulfill their requests, CAs must inform the purser about this incident.

To cut a long story short flight attendants try their best to be helpful to every passenger from take-off up to landing.
