FUTURE CONTINUOUS

Before doing the following exercises revise grammar material – N. A. Bonk, Unit 15: p. 334-335.

 

1. Put the verbs in brackets into Future Continuous.

1. I ……… (to play tennis) at six o’clock tomorrow.

2. When you come to my place tomorrow I ………. (to read) your book.

3. Don’t phone me tomorrow. I ……… (to get ready for) my examination.

4. What you ……… (to do) at eight p.m. tomorrow?

5. Can we meet tomorrow afternoon? – Not in the afternoon. I ……… (to work).

6. Do you think you still ……… (to do) the same job in ten years?

7. If you need to contact me, I ……… (to stay) at the Mariot Hotel until Friday.

8. You ……… (to see) Paula tomorrow? – Yes, probably. Why? – I want to give this book to her.

 

2. Put the verbs in brackets into Future Continuous or Future Perfect.

e.g. Don’t phone between 7 and 8.

We’ll be having (we/ have) dinner.

1. Phone me after 5 o’clock. ……… (we/ finish) dinner by then.

2. Tomorrow afternoon we are going to play tennis from 3 o’clock till 4:30. So, at 4 o’clock , ……… (we/ play) tennis.

3. A: Can we meet tomorrow?

3. Put the verbs in brackets into Future Simple or Future Continuous.

4. Choose a verb that can complete both sentences in the pair. Use the Future Simple in one sentence and the Future Continuous in the other.

*5. Ask about people’s plans in a polite way. Use will you be – ing …?

e.g. You want to use the computer. David is using it now.

Will you be using the computer for long / for much longer?

1. You want some things from the supermarket. Ann is just leaving the house.

2. You are going to see a film with Jo, who has a car. A lift would be nicer than the bus.

3. You want to buy Jack’s car but you don’t know whether he plans to sell it.

4. You want to meet your friend next weekend but you don’t know his plans.

 

*6. Look in your diary and make some sentences about your definite future plans. Use either the future continuous or the present continuous.

e.g. I’ll be going to university in September.

I’m leaving for Prague on the 25th.
