In English, there are three basic tenses: present, past, and future. Each has a perfect form, indicating completed action; each has a progressive form, indicating ongoing action; and each has a perfect progressive form, indicating ongoing action that will be completed at some definite time.
There are 4 main tense groups: Simple, Continuous, Perfect and Perfect Continuous.
Each of these groups include 3 tenses:
Simple: present simple, past simple and future simple
Continuous: present continuous, past continuous and future continuous.
Perfect: present perfect, past perfect and future perfect.
Perfect Continuous: present perfect continuous, past perfect continuous and future perfect continuous.
