WHAT DO CASTING DIRECTORS LOOK FOR IN CHILD ACTORS?

1) A child actor meets the casting director at an audition, where he is asked to do what is in script and then he is waiting for a call-back.

2) The casting director personally meets every child actor and works with them on his own without any assistants.

3) Sometimes the casting director is out of the room but he can look after the process from his office and he can see every child who auditions to play a part.

4) The casting director is extremely busy and interviewing every child actor takes much time, so he can’t afford such a luxury.

5) It is the casting director’s assistants’ work to interview a child actor before the audition: they talk to the kids and tell them what they should do.

6) Parents are not allowed to be with the children in the room because they will only slow down the process and make their children nervous and tense.

7) The casting director is absolutely indifferent to the child’s appearance.

8) Gabrielle Schary says that parents could only be there, watch the audition calmly and don’t ask a million questions.

9) Gabrielle Schary always looks for child actors in schools and in local shows, she considers that only there she could find something really specific and unusual.

10) The acting classes are very expensive that’s why Gabrielle Schary never looks for child actors there moreover it is not a guarantee of a good result of the search.

11) Gabrielle Schary says that she has never heard of discovering a kid on the street by casting directors.
