Studentship

Now there are 440,700 students, or about 3%of the population of the country in Kazakhstan. It is more than the population in Astana. During the current educational year they increased 5,300 students more than in the previous year. At the beginning of the 2000/2001 educational year there were 170 universities, on average there are about 2,500 students per one higher school. The most part of the studentship is in Almaty and Astana. The basic part of students is trained in state higher schools (71%). There are barely the third of a total number in the country. On the list of the most prestigious universities from year to year has been KIMEP, KazGAU, KazGUMYA, KazGU, AGU, KAzGUA, the Kazakh Law, Kazakh-American university and some others. For the past four years the educational market of Kazakhstan has been flooded with lawyers, economists, financiers, international journalists and diplomats. Only the third of them can find the work with an expected wage of $ 150-200.

One and Thousands Opportunities of Colleges

Vocational training is meant to develop as a part of the continued educational system and provided by vocational institutions (colleges, specialized schools) that can meet the needs of an individual, society and state in professional and compulsory education.

Staying at the halfway between school and university a college fills successfully a professional gap. On the one hand, college well aware of the market of knowledge is capable to offer a profession in the most demand. On the other hand, college programs provide early professionalism of the youth saving the time, forces and money of its students. Upon the completion of a college an entrant has the right to enter the 2-3 courses of a; one-discipline university.

The system of Kazakhstani colleges can be broken down in five basic professional groups: medical, humanitarian and pedagogical, technical, economic and art.

The situation of this link of continued education is the most successful. Colleges can provide financing for themselves. Cooperating with universities, they improve their programs to coveted levels and are the first to respond to all scientific and technical achievements in education. At last, they provide for the healthiest environment for their students, creating training programs in view of physiological and psychological norms.

School

A comprehensive school has become a multiple-discipline establishment and it is developing in several directions different with their tasks and training programs. State program “Education” outlines a number of tasks:

to train all school-aged children; to implement all state compulsory standards of secondary education;

to improve the contents and methods of training, to introduce objective criteria to estimate pupils knowledge and teachers activity;

to support some measures protecting pupils' and teachers' health.

According to experts, the average expenses for one pupil are about KZT 18,800 per one year nationwide. In different regions this parameter hovers at KZT 18 up to 22,000. The real need is not less than KZT 35,000 per one school-person. Alongside the state's financing loans, technical assistance, grants of international organizations, sponsor's |ids and funds of Organizations and the population will be employed.

A resolution on compulsory and free preschool training for 5(6)-years olds in the framework of general educational preparations allows for the opening of more than 12,000, one-year pre-school classes and groups in kindergartens.

The appearance of new schools boasting non-standard education is a legitimate result of modern society. It is considered that private school realises and reflects specific social and ethnic interests and beliefs of various layers of society, a separate family, cognitive inquiries and individual features of a child more exactly. An individual-focused private school has become almost the only institute that can service the child and his family today. The training costs in Kazakhstani private educational establishments ranges from USD 70 up to USD 500 per one month depending on the environment created for children's development and the quantity of services. Comprehensive schools are accessible to all. They have a years-proven and rather strong program that meets state norms.

Teaching at these schools is free and fees can be levied from additional off-curriculum educational services. The quality of teaching at gymnasiums can rival private schools. Gymnasiums as a kind of a state educational institution give well-rounded multi-discipline education: enhanced or profound aesthetic, law, humanitarian, economic, polytechnic or any other.

At the same time, a gymnasium is entitled to apply its own, copyright programs and training technologies as well as adapted ones. In the nutshell, a gymnasium can meet any abilities of a child. Recently lyceums and multi-discipline, linguistic, art and Kazakh-language gymnasiums appeared. Their names reflect their priority directions: classical, experimental, humanitarian, Russian-Kazakhstan and international

There is one more group of usual schools which launched gymnasium and lyceum classes. There are twice more than gymnasiums and lyceums.
