Leaders of the School

Prof. V. M. Kazansky, D. Sc. (Eng.); Honoured Scientist of the Russian federation; author of over 220 printed papers, among them 2 monographs, 6 handbooks; holder of more than 70 patents and inventor’s certificates. Prof. V. M. Kazansky has supervised research of 5 doctors and 28 candidates of science in engineering and is a member of a specialised Board conferring the Doctor of Science degree.

Prof. O. N. Vesselovsky, D. Sc. (Eng.), Member of the Academy of Electrical Engineering; Honoured Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation; Honorary Worker of NSTU; author of over 130 printed papers, 8 monographs and handbooks included. Prof. O. N. Vesselovsky has supervised research of 2 postdoctoral and 13 doctoral students who successfully defended their theses. He is a member of a specialised Board conferring the Candidate of Science degree.

Prof. V. V. Zhulovyan, D. Sc. (Eng.), author of more than 170 printed papers including 2 handbooks; holder of 87 patents and inventor’s certificates. Prof. V. V. Zhulovyan has prepared 1 doctor and 12 candidates of science in engineering and is a member of a specialised Board conferring the Doctor of Science degree.

Prof. A. I. Inkin, D. Sc. (Eng.), head of theoretical electrical engineering department; author of over 100 papers, holder of 15 inventor’s certificates He has supervised research of 4 doctoral students who successfully defended their theses. Prof. A. I. Inkin is a member of a specialised Board conferring the Doctor of Science degree.

History of the School

The school emerged when a branch laboratory of non-conventional structure electric machines was set up at the Novosibirsk Electrical Engineering Institute (NETI, now NSTU) in 1967. Prof. V. M. Kazansky, the first Vice-Rector for science and research in NETI, headed the laboratory and he is considered the founder of the school. In the early 1970s, research work on low-speed linear electric motors and general-purpose electric drives with linear electric motors began under the guidance of Prof. V. M. Kazansky. Research into high-torque electric motors and electric drives based on them was initiated by Prof. V. V. Zhulovyan while Prof. A. I. Inkin started investigations into electromagnetic fields and electric machine parameters.

Currently 42 staff members, 2 postdoctoral and 9 doctoral students are involved in doing research within the school.
